Joe Chindamo's debut CD 'A Brief History Of Standard Time' featuring the Internationally renowned bassist Ray Brown, was released in Australia in 1994 to critical acclaim, giving him national prominence. The recording very quickly went out of print and since became a collector's item. With the artistic and critical successes of Joe's recent releases, the demand grew for the re-issue of the CD.

Newmarket Music is proud to collaborate with Joe to make the CD available again, with the very appropriate new title, The First Take. The original recording has been re-mastered and the re-issue features previously unavailable studio material of the trio in rehearsal, as well as insightful new liner notes from Joe on the story behind the recording and his recollections of the trio's day in the studio.

During the planning stages of this re-issue, the sad news came to us of Ray Brown's untimely passing. This CD affords us all the opportunity to once again appreciate Ray's brilliance and remind us of the man's great contribution to jazz.
